Hello. My name is Suzanne Andrew (Daniels) and I live on and own the property immediately east of the proposed pit, my address is 2867 C 1/2 Road.
My concerns are as follows:
1. Noise & Dust abatement has not been adequately addressed. In addition to the human families who live and breathe east, north & west of this property there are many species of wildlife to consider in this proposal. This area along the river is home to many deer, great heron, bald eagles, hawks, other birds, coyotes, raccoons, skunks & foxes. Many trees have already been removed from the south side of this property and these animals' habitat is being decimated. The consequence of this has been (in my personal opinion) many more deer & etc. are being hit on our streets because the deer are crossing the roads trying to find new places to live, eat and drink as their options are disappearing. There are many cottonwood trees along the river that will be damaged by dust. Many neighbors have crops of hay, corn and grapes that will also suffer damage because of the dust a gravel pit will create. The constant noise of truck traffic, crushers and other equipment will also cause harm and discontent to the animals currently living there. I myself raise livestock and I am concerned that the noise and dust will create distress among my animals and decrease their production, including but not limited to a decrease in egg laying by chickens; and possibly deterred breeding in my hog operation. Please keep in mind many of us on this mile and a half of street are still agriculture, and we would like to stay agriculture in spite of the projects taking place to our west and around the Riverside Parkway.
2. C 1/2 Road is in a state of disrepair now as patches have been made periodically over the years but zero resurfacing has been done in the 15 years I've owned my property. There are bumps and jumps all along the road and it's a weaving game travelling up and down the street trying to miss the worst potholes. Previous issues were brought up years ago regarding Brady Trucking using C 1/2 Road daily in their business, and repairs were not made after they left the area, it's not getting better with time. A shovel-full of asphalt and a little tamping hasn't worked yet, it's not going to work with gravel trucks on the road now either.
3. There are no shoulders on the road. This 1 1/2 miles of C 1/2 Rd is the only undeveloped portion of the walking/biking path along the river. All day, every day large numbers of bicycles connect that path by biking up and down C 1/2 Rd. Did your traffic study take into account these people bicycling in front of a gravel pit every day, with nowhere to go to get out of the way of a gravel truck? Will the gravel trucks slow down and follow politely behind these folks riding down the street or will they barrel around them to make time? There are no sidewalks on either side of the street, there is no walking path, there are no turn lanes; the only option is weeds and goatheads. Please strongly consider turn lanes in and out of the gravel pit. How sad that someone will have to be seriously injured or killed because they were run over by a multi-ton truck hauling gravel in a primarily residential area & didn't see that person.
4. Minimum requirements are just that - minimum. The owners of this probable gravel pit are going to make plenty enough money with their project, let's expect better than minimum to maintain our homes and livelihoods on C 1/2 Road. We have folks living on this street whose parents and grandparents homesteaded here years and years ago and left a legacy to their children and grandchildren. Honor those people by stepping up to the plate and being better than minimum. Minimum berms and fences aren't good enough, show the neighborhood that you are glad to be a contributing member to our way of life and try harder. Bigger, better fences. More room for truck traffic. Consideration for the folks who have been here a long time and the newest members of our community deserve better than minimum.
Thank you for your time,
Suzanne Andrew

Orchard Mesa residents who live directly above the proposed Gravel Pit site we have a good view of the valley and how it's being developed we ride our bikes along C & 1/2 row will utilize the River Alaska loan is River Park with the development of the Eddie apartments and all the traffic feeding out see and a half to 29 road that area is becoming more of a extension of the River Front it's part of what Grand Junction has develop nashly being recognized for riverfront trail and Las colonious and this Gravel Pit just does not fit with that Vision I don't see any plans for the development of bike pass along c and a half Road maybe a token designation of the river Trails coming in on the river some setback for that but there must be total total compliance with the transportation plan for the a pedestrian bikes in the valley and we're concerned. what the noise in the dash they say it will be monitored we want to know how it will be measured highly regulated and who is the responsible agency we will be living right above it and we sure can tell if something's done on time or just is happening and I think you're opening up a Pandora's Box I think you have a chance of developing one of the prettiest parts of the river if you ever float that section of the river you can't go back once you let you know the problems start with the gravel pit and so please Grand Junction please do the right thing I really think there's a way we can put the Gravel Pit in the more industrial area and come up with a better plan for that piece of property particularly with a new development of the Eddie and the bike trails and the agricultural come you know the common agricultural. small Parcels of land that are used for ever cultural uses and small residential Parcels thank you it just doesn't fit I hope that Grand Junction does the right thing with the vision for the future thank you

my comment is what whitening and development of seeing a half Road will occur as a result of this Scrabble Corey extraction that this is seeing a half road is a designated connector between the lows colonious area and 30 + 29 Road and from then since the riverfront trail so do not have a bike path or even that develops shoulder long CM 1/2 is not a good idea and that developers should pay for this because it is the designated connect to route as a bike path between those colonious and 29 Road. thank you I look forward to the road design for this

Hi, I live at 2854 Unaweep Ave. directly south of the proposed application. I purchased this property 5 years ago. I knew the parcel of land in question was zoned for residential single family-Rural development.
The back of my property butts up against the Colorado River. My views are incredible.. the solitude is good for the soul... and wildlife is abundant. I can't imagine the constant beeping noise and sounds from the rock haulers. I am retired. I spend a lot of time outside. My windows are open in the summer.
I am concerned for my mental health. I am sensitive to annoying noises. i.e. trucks backing up.
I am concerned for the wildlife. They have no say but I can tell you they would not be happy !!!
I am concerned about the traffic increase on C 1/2 Rd. There are no sidewalks or bike lanes. C 1/2 is used by pedestrians and cyclist to access river trail and new park system. The new apartments west of the land application also have increased the road usage. C 1/2 is now being used as a short cut to D Rd off of 29 Rd.
Surely there is somewhere else in the valley that gravel can be found.
This application for land use would be a nuisance to all neighbors above and below the Colorado River and those traveling sans vehicles.
Thank you
SReams
